GEM PCGS MS65 1912 $5
Indian Head half eagle collectors are often unaware at just how rare the 1912 is in grades above MS65. PCGS shows a current population of four in MS65+ with just a single coin—an MS66—finer. And if you have to have that particular coin, you’ll likely be paying an insane price for it.
The obverse of this example is really Gemmy with lovely rose and green-gold hues over clean, frosty surfaces. The reverse has a few shallow ticks.
I’m pricing this coin at a small premium over a far more common date and—as such—it would be a savvy selection for a nice quality type set.
