IMPRESSIVE PCGS/CAC MS63 1806 ROUND 6 HALF EAGLE

There are two major varieties of 1806 half eagles known. These are the Round 6 with the stars configured 7x6, and the scarcer Pointed 6 with the stars configured 8x5. The 1806 is the most available date of this design, and it is common in grades through MS62. CAC-quality MS63 1806 Round 6 half eagles are infrequently available and this date is scarce in MS64 and extremely rare as a Gem.
When viewed with the naked eye, this coin has the appearance of an MS64. This is due to the lack of marks and the glowing yellow-gold color which is original and very appealing. When a 5x loupe is used to carefully examine the surfaces, some light obverse adjustment marks are visible on the portrait and there a few wispy lines in the upper left obverse. The overall eye appeal is very high for both the date and grade.
Three have been just three APRs for the 1806 Round 6 is PCGS/CAC MS63 since 2018, with the most recent being Stack’s Bowers 6/2024: 3178 at a strong $43,200.

CAC has approved 18 in MS63 with 20 finer.
