Housed in an older green label PCGS holder and, in my opinion, choicer than many comparable early date P mint Liberty Head eagles in AU50.
A lustrous though somewhat baggy example of a date which is far from the common issue one might think based on its comparatively high mintage of 75,000+. In Mint State, the 1843 is exceedingly rare.
An ex Fairmont 1843 $10 graded EF45 by PCGS with CAC approval sold for $2,280 as Stack’s Bowers 2023 ANA:1187, and this is the only APR for this date in this grade (and with CAC approval) sold at auction since 6/2019.
CAC has approved seven in EF45 with 10 finer.
