‘MEATY’ PCGS/CAC EF45 1848-O $10
The 1848-O is a better date within the No Motto eagle type from New Orleans. It is usually found in the EF45 to AU53 range, and these coins are seldom choice.
A a ton of luster remains and I wouldn’t think twice if a coin of this quality eventually graded AU50 or even AU53. As on every known 1848-O eagle, this example is totally flat on every star bu the rest of the detail is present.
Stack’s Bowers sold three different PCGS/CAC EF45 1848-O eagles in 2024. They sold for $4,320, $4,400 (this exact coin; see below), and $4,800.
CAC has approved five in this grade with 39 finer.
