There were 4,176 1876 quarter eagles made for circulation and this date is not often seen in grades higher than MS62.
This piece is characterized by flashes of reddish-gold color which are more visible on the obverse and the reverse. There is a ton of frosty luster with slight PL tendencies. The eye appeal is superior to most of the MS61 1876 that I have seen.
No PCGS/CAC AU58 has ever sold at auction, and the sole PCGS AU58 without CAC approval offered at auction since 2018 brought $1,900 in early 2021.
CAC has approved eight in this grade with seven finer.
