The 1847-O is similar in overall scarcity to the 1850-O through 1852-O issues. And, as with that trio, the 1847-O is rare in Uncirculated which makes nice AU coins such as this very popular with collectors.
This piece has a choice, frosty obverse with an absence of detracting marks. The reverse shows some weakness of strike at the centers and a few faint lines can be seen with a 5x glass below the O in OF.
No PCGS AU58 example has sold at auction since March 2010; this includes both non-CAC and CAC coins. (!)
CAC has approved 10 in this grade with nine finer.
