POPULAR 1834 CLASSIC HEAD
The popular 1834 is the first-year-of-issue is for the short-lived Classic Head design. It is common in all circulated grades but the choosy collector will not find it easy to locate a nice AU58 coin which has natural color and choice surfaces.
This reflective example shows nice caramel-gold hues over lightly abraded surfaces. There is a long mint-made lintmark on the reverse just past the period after the D in the value which doesn’t detract from the excellent all-around appearance of this desirable coin.
Just two PCGS/CAC AU58s have sold since 2016 with the most recent occurring in July 2017. An NGC/CAC AU58 brought $2,520 in February 2022.
CAC has approved 26 in this grade with 60 finer.
