The 1859 Three Dollar is only a moderately scarce issue in the higher AU grades but it is very seldom found with original color and choice surfaces.
This Gem Slider has the slightest friction on the high spots but is has better eye appeal than examples of this date in MS61 or MS62 holders. The color is a pleasing green-gold and rose and the surfaces are nearly perfect save for a small scratch in front of the first A in AMERICA.
The only PCGS AU58 with CAC approval to sell at auction since 2011 is ex Heritage 2/12: 12272 which brought $2,760.
A very good value at current levels.
CAC has approved 8 in this grade with 13 finer.
