I generally have little interest in Morgan Dollars although I do have a soft spot for CC issues. But when I was offered this coin recently I jumped at the chance to buy it on account of its dazzling color.
This fresh-to-the market Gem was recently found in a non-collectors group of mixed silver coins. It sat in an old manila envelope for many year and it has acquired superb blue, green, red and gold colors, in slightly different configurations, on the obverse and reverse. A few small marks on the cheek can be seen with a low power glass but they don’t detract from the high level of eye appeal.
11 different PCGS MS65 examples of this date sold at auction in 2012. Prices ranged from a low of $3,738 to a high of $5,417.
