The 1912 Saint is common in grades up to MS63 but it is scarce in properly graded MS64 and very scarce in Gem. Nearly all of the coins graded MS63 are not choice for the grade and only a small percentage are nice enough to ultimately be approved by CAC.
This example has a very nice obverse which probably grades a full MS64 on its own; the reverse is slightly scuffy and this is likely why the coin is “only” graded MS63+. The surfaces show nice rose and orange-gold color and have above average luster.
The only APR for a PCGS MS63+ with CAC is Heritage 4/11: 6976 which sold for $2,760. Another PCGS MS63+, this without CAC approval, realized $2,820 as Heritage 6/13: 5924.
CAC has approved 32 in MS63 with 44 finer; it is unclear how many of the “MS63″ coins are actually MS63+.
