The 1867 is the most available Type Two double eagle from the 1860′s. It is available in AU and the lower Un circulated grades with more frequency than in lower collector grades; an indication that a hoard existed at one time.
This is a perfect coin for the grade with deep natural russet hues on both sides. The obverse is clean for the grade and choice; the reverse shows a bit of crud caked onto the area between the E and N in TWENTY.
The last PCGS EF45 to sell at auction was a nice non-CAC piece which realized $2,070 as Heritage 2/10: 1735.
CAC has approved this one coin in EF45 with 23 finer.
