GOLD CAC STICKER OGH 1855 THREE DOLLARS
Housed in an old green label holder; in my opinion this coin is a solid AU58 or even a touch finer by today's standards.
The 1855 is a common date in the Three Dollar series. It is numismatically significant as the first year in which the larger DOLLARS punch was used.
This very lustrous slider shows lovely deep rich orange-gold and it has extremely clean surfaces which lack the usual scuffs.
CAC has only awarded 10 Gold stickers to this entire denomination (three in AU55 and just two finer) and this is one of just two dated 1855 to have been so designated; the other grades AU50.
If you are searching for a Three Dollar gold piece with all the "bells and whistles," you have found your coin.
