GOLD CAC 1855 DOUBLE EAGLE
Housed in an old green label PCGS holder; in my opinion this coin is very undergraded by today's standards and I consider it to be a solid EF40 if not a full EF45.
The 1855 is an underrated Philadelphia Type One double eagle which is scarcer than the 1854 Small Date and the 1857 and most comparable to the 1856.
It is hard to imagine how this example was ever graded VF30 as it shows a good deal of luster and solid EF detail on the obverse and the reverse.
A really neat coin with all the "bells and whistles" one could hope for.
This is the sole 1855 double eagle to have been awarded a Gold sticker by CAC.
