PCGS/CAC/OGH AU50 1854-S $10.00

Housed in an old PCGS green label holder and grading AU53 to AU55, in my opinion, by today's standards.

The 1854-S is a numismatically significant issue as it is the first Liberty Head eagle produced by the newly-opened San Francisco mint. It isn't an especially scarce date in the lower-to-middle AU grades but it is hard to locate with natural color and choice surfaces.

This vibrant light russet-gold example retains a considerable amount of mint luster and it is very clean for the issue with an absence of detracting marks. This coin shows minimal amounts of actual wear.

A non-CAC PCGS AU50 1854-S eagle in a new generation holder brought $1,998 as Stacks Bowers 2016 ANA: 3323.

An affordable yet choice and significant early S mint eagle.

CAC has approved 7 in this grade with 28 finer.
