In Gem, this is a far scarcer date than most people are aware. This is a a bona-fide Gem housed in an old “rattler” holder and graded some 30+ years ago. The surfaces are very clean, and are covered with the lovely rose-gold and light green hues that Gems of this era typically show.
A wonderful type coin to represent the With Motto Liberty Head half eagles produced from 1866 though the changeover to the Indian Head design in 1908.
CAC has approved 21 in this grade with 11 finer.
