The 1860-S is actually as scarce as most of the Civil War S-mint double eagles, but by virtue of its premature date, it doesn’t get showered with numismatic love as do the 1861-S, 1862-S, 1863-S, 1864-S, and the 1865-S.

This piece has the typical Fairmont look with deep russet and orange-gold color offering decidedly above-average eye appeal.

CAC has approved 10 in AU50 with 96 finer.
