Of the five eagles produced by the Carson City mint during the 1880s, the 1881-CC is the most often seen by a large margin.
This piece has wonderful deep reddish-gold color which is original and not often seen with this much intensity on any CC eagle.
The only relevant APR for a PCGS/CAC AU53 is Stack’s Bowers ANA: 2118 at $6,000.
A nice alternative to a common 1890-CC, 1891-CC, or 1892-CC eagle as a type coin.
CAC has approved a dozen in AU53 with 49 finer.
