Around 40-50 examples of this dtae exist from the original mintage of 85 Proofs.
As I have pointed out in blog posts on my website, Proof Liberty Head eagles seem very undervalued in comparison to Double eagles of this era. The current market price of the latter type doesn’t make sense at its 3x price multiple over the scarcer eagle and—in my opinion—this should be at least a $30k+ coin.
Unlike nearly every PR63 pre-1908 gold issue, this piece has no conspicuous hairlines. As such, is uncommonly attractive and I’d suggest that the new owenr send this coin to PCGS for reconsideration as it coil possibly upgrade to PR63+.
There has been a single APR for a PCGS PR63 1902 $10 and it was all the way back in 2014 for $15,683. In 8/2023, Stacks Bowers sold a PCGS/CAC PR64 for $36,000.
CAC has approved this one coin in PR63 with 10 finer.
