NICE PCGS MS62 1852 $20
MS62 examples of the 1852 are scarcer than the 1851. PCGS has current population of 47 in MS62 (versus 68 for the 1851), with 27 finer (versus 21 for the 1851). This is another issue which crosses the $20k threshold for a nice PCGS MS63, and this makes a solid MS62 seem like relatively good value.
This Normal Date example shows nice light orange-gold color which is natural and it covers satiny surfaces. A few light lines over the top of Liberty’s head limit the grade, and are likely the reason this piece didn’t attain CAC approval.
There are six APRs for the 1852 $20 in PCGS MS62 since 2020, with a low of $10,802 in July 2022 (non-CAC), to a high of $13,200 in April 2022 for a coin with CAC approval.
If you would like to add a single high-grade early date Type One $20 Liberty to your holdings, give this piece careful consideration.
