AFFORDABLE COLLECTOR GRADE 1861-C HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

The 1861-C half eagle is the final coin made at this facility and if it could be proved that pieces were made by the Confederacy, prices would approach the levels achieved by this coin's counterpart, the 1861-D half eagle.

This issue isn't often seen in collector grades (i.e., VF and EF) and when it is, the coins are usually horrible. This choice piece is a welcome exception with natural russet color, problem-free surfaces and detail which suggests a higher grade than VF25.

An inferior PCGS VF25 1861-C half eagle with CAC approval sold for $6,900 as Heritage 12/2010: 4429, and no VF30 has been auctioned since 2011.

This is an exceptional opportunity to acquire a truly scarce, multi-levels of demand Charlotte half eagle for a reasonable sum.

CAC has approved 3 in this grade with 19 finer.
