The 1835 is a common date in the Classic Head quarter eagle series. There are dozens of pieces graded AU58 by the services, but fewer than 20% of these are nice enough to have received a CAC sticker.
This piece shows a far better strike than normal for the issue. Both sides show delicate reddish-gold and green-gold hues over lightly marked surfaces.
The most recent APR for a CAC approved 1835 quarter eagle in this grade was in an August 2021 sale, where a PCGS example brought $2,520. More recently (1/2022), an NGC/CAC AU55 realized $2,640.
A nice example at a popular price point.
