BORDERLINE GEM 1907-D $20
Only two Liberty Head double eagles were made at the Denver mint and the 1907-D is the more available of the two. It is common in grades though MS65+ but it becomes very scarce—and expensive!—in MS66 and finer.
This beautiful borderline Gem has an absence of marks and it certainly has the appearance of a Gem to my eyes.
Heritage 5/2022: 5140 is the sole PCGS/CAC MS64 to sell at auction since early 2019 and it went or $5,160.
A great coin for the type collector seeking an interesting alternative to a boring 1904 $20 Lib.
CAC has approved 75 in this grade with 37 finer.
