The 1906 is one of three tough P mint issues from the 1900s. It has become more available in MS60 through MS63 due to European bank hoards but it is very scarce in MS64 and extremely rare in MS65 and finer.

This example would almost certainly have graded MS63 were it not for a small mark in the lower right obverse field. The color and luster are well above-average for the grade.

This exact coin is one of three PCGS/CAC MS62 Fairmont coins to have sold at auction since the summer of 2018. It brought $3,120 as Stack’s Bowers 10/2018: 1574. In December 2022, Heritage sold a high-end PCGS/CAC MS62 1906 $20 for $5,160.
