1881-O $10.00 PCGS EF45

May 12, 2012/ Doug Winter

This overlooked issue still doesn't command the price level it should. Only 8,350 were struck and just a few hundred are known, mostly in the EF40 to AU50 range. This example shows decent surfaces and color with a typical slightly soft strike. Along with the 1880-O and 1882-O, I regard this date as one of the best values in the entire New Orleans eagle series.
