HIGH-END CAC APPROVED PCGS AU53 1852-D HALF EAGLE

There were just a handful of D mint half eagles in the SB sale that I liked, and the 1852-D was high on that list. Other than an easily overlooked rim nick at the first star it’s about as nice an AU53 example of this issue as you’ll find. It shows minimal wear, oodles of mint luster, and the surfaces are clean. If you are a strike fanatic, this coin won’t be for you as it shows the typical weakness associated with this issue. But if you value coin which are 100% natural, you’ll love this 1852-D.

A few years ago, this was a $4,000 coin, and a bargain at that number. Today, it’s a $6,500+ coin and I honestly believe while no longer a bargain, it remains fairly priced in the overall scheme of rare date gold prices.

CAC has approved 16 in this grade with 22 finer.
