VERY SCARCE OGH MS61 1850 $5 GRADED BY PCGS

Housed in an old green label holder and accurately graded by today’s standards in my opinion.

The 1850 is the second hardest pre-Civil War Liberty Head half eagle to locate in Uncirculated. I consider it a strong High R-6, Low R-7, with at most 10 or so known with the single finest unquestionably the NGC MS65 that sold for $54,050 in April 2015.

This bright orange-gold example shows a near-total absence of significant abrasions over its frosty surfaces.

No PCGS MS61 1850 half eagle has sold at auction since 2007, and since early 2018 only a single MS62 graded by PCGS has sold at this venue.

An extremely undervalued issue, in my opinion.
