SUPERB GEM 1897 $2.50 GRADED MS67 BY PCGS AND APPROVED BY CAC

The 1897 is among the more available 19th century Liberty Head quarter eagles to locate in grades through MS67. For coins finer than MS67, the number graded at PCGS is tiny with three in MS67+, and a single coin in MS68.

As one would expect from a coin graded MS67 by PCGS and approved by CAC, this coin is exceptional with literally perfect surfaces and enticing rich rose gold and green-gold colors seen on both sides. A bit of green verdigris is placed within the horizontal stripes on the shield.

There have been two auction records for this date in PCGS/CAC MS67: one for $9,106 (Legend 7/2020), and another for $9,000 (Heritage 9/2018).

This is a perfect coin for the collector seeking a single Gem Liberty Head quarter eagle for a type set.

CAC has approved 11 in this grade with just a single coin finer (MS68).
