VERY SCARCE CHOICE AU 1851-D $2.50 IN PCGS/CAC AU55

The 1851-D is a scarce issue in the mid to higher AU grades, and it is very rare in Uncirculated with an estimated four to six known.

This example is fresh to the market and it is absolutely outstanding with lovely rich green-gold color on the obverse and the reverse. This is likely the single most original Choice AU 1851-D in existence, and it would not look out of place in an AU58 holder. Some dark dirt in the recesses of the date confirms its originality. A great looking coin which epitomizes the “DWN look” for branch mint gold.
