In properly graded MS61 and MS62, the 1836 half eagle is a scarce issue.

The obverse of this coin is choice with rich yellow-gold color and good luster. On the reverse, there is a thin scrape below the O in OF which is likely the main reason for this piece not receiving CAC approval.

An 1836 $5 graded MS61 by PCGS has sold just two times since 2009, with the APRs at $4,465 and $3,290.
