HM-9, R-7. An exceedingly rare variety and the finest known of just six or so known.
This extremely rare variety is quickly identifiable by its short 1 in the date and the U in UNITED first punched too far to the left. It is the single rarest variety of all the Classic Head half eagle series, and this exact coin is both the finest known and the discovery. What looks to be a deep scratch in the inner left obverse field is a significant die break that was clearly the reason why this obverse die was quickly retired.
