SCARCE PCGS MS61 1850-C GOLD DOLLAR
The 1850-C is the scarcest of the five collectable Type One gold dollars from the Charlotte mint. I believe that around 10-15 are known in Uncirculated, with the majority in the MS60 to MS62 range. The current PCGS population figure of 15 in MS61 seems to be inflated, and the actual number is closer to seven or eight.
While not CAC qaulity, I regard this is an accurately graded MS61 example with good color and a slightly better than average strike.
No PCGS MS61 1850-C gold dollars have traded via auction since March, 2022, and before this another sale was recorded in April 2018.
