Unlike many of the Type One S mint double eagles, the 1859-S has not been profoundly affected by shipwreck finds. It remains scarce in the lower MS grades and rare in MS62 or finer.
This highly lustrous example shows nice natural light rose and medium orange-gold color over somewhat “ticky” surfaces.
