Varieties of 1854-O eagles are known with a Small date and a Large date. The latter is considerably more available and there were at least 14 nice EF45 to AU58 examples in the Fairmont hoard.
This is a very choice example with deep olive-gold color and vault dirt caked into the recesses on either side. Well-struck, free of detracting marks ,and as original in appearance as you’ll likely find for this variety.
The sole APR for an NGC/CAC AU53 1854-O LD $10 is Heritage 11/2023: 3702 at $2,880. My coin is significantly finer.
CAC has approved seven in AU53 with 20 finer.
