Varieties of 1850 eagles are known with a small date and a large date. Of the two, the small date is far scarcer, and nice AU58 coins such as this lovely piece are rare.
Medium olive-gold color is seen on the obverse and on the reverse. This coin was likely never circulated and the amount of bag friction is extremely minimal.
This exact coin (see below) is the sole PCGS/CAC AU58 1850 small date $10 to ever sell at public auction
