GEM 1871 GOLD DOLLAR WITH CAC APPROVAL
A scarce issue in MS65 and very rare finer than this, the 1871 gold dollar has an original mintage of just 3,900 business strikes as well as 35 Proofs.
This is a nearly fully PL Gem with the look of a coin at least a full point higher. Other than two mint-made copper spots on the obverse, this piece is nearly flawless and it shows great eye appeal.
No PCGS/CAC MS65 has ever sold at auction. The most recent APR for a non-CAC PCGS MS65 is Heritage 3/2022: 92574 at $3,360, and that coin was discolored in the right obverse field.
A good value at this price point, in my opinion.
