1850-C GOLD DOLLAR IN PCGS/CAC AU58

The 1850-C is the rarest collectable gold dollar made at the Charlotte mint. Accurately graded AU58 coins are scarce while this date is rare in Uncirculated.
This green-gold example has a semi-reflective obverse which makes the light scuffs in the fields appear worse than they actually are. A tiny bit of rub on the cheek knocks this from an otherwise possible MS61 grade.
This exact coin is the sole PCGS/CAC AU58 to ever sell at auction; see below.
CAC has approved four in this grade with just one finer (MS62).
