A PCGS VF20 1850-D QUARTER EAGLE GRADED VF20 BY PCGS AND IN AN OLD GREEN LABEL HOLDER
Housed in an old green label holder and properly graded by today’s looser standards.
The 1850-D is the most available quarter eagle from the Dahlonega mint made after 1849. It is far scarcer than the “common” 1843-1848 issues although it brings only a small premium.
While well worn and showing a typically weak strike on the reverse, there is actual mint luster; not something you see everyday on a D mint quarter eagle in the low VF range.
No 1850-D quarter eagle in any VF grade has sold at auction since 2005.
