CHOICE PCGS/CAC AU53 1882-CC $20

The 1882-CC is a much scarcer date than the 1883-CC 1884-CC and the 1889-CC double eagles. It is available in all circulated grades, but most of the pieces which are slabbed in AU53 are not especially nice.

This coin is especially nice. Its surfaces are remarkably mark-free and the color is an even olive-gold with flashes of underlying golden-orange.

The two most recent APRs—and the only sales since August 2020—are or $7,500 (1/2023) and $7,200 (5/2022).

With AU58s currently worth abound 2x the price of a nice AU53, this seems like the right grade for most collectors to purchase.

CAC has approved 14 in AU53 with 93 finer.

DWN collects sales tax when appropriate.
