This light yellow-gold example is slightly reflective and this makes the fields appear to be a bit more chatter-y than they actually are in hand.
The 1882-CC is the second scarcest CC $20 from the 1880s after the low-mintage 1885-CC, and it is a better value, in my opinion, in AU50 and AU53 than in AU55 and AU58
No PCGS/CAC AU50 1882-CC double eagles have sold at auction. Two non-CAC coins graded by PCGS have sold since the middle of 2021, and they brought $6,034 (1/2024) and 6,600 (5/2023).
CAC has approved 9 in this grade with 107 finer.
