SCARCE 1841 HALF EAGLE

The 1841 is the third scarcest Philadelphia half eagle from the 1840's after the two varieties of 1842. It is harder to locate than a number of C+D mint half eagles from this era yet it is priced at a much lower point.

Thisgreen-gold example shows a considerable amount of dirt caked into the recesses on the obverse and the reverse. The detail is excellent for the issue.

Only one AU50 example of this date has sold at auction since August 2011 and it realized $1,410 as Heritage 6/13: 5699.
