The 1852-O is, along with the 1851-O, the most available double eagle from the New Orleans mint. That said, the 1852-O is still much harder to find than the Philadelphia issue of this year. The 1852-O is usually seen in VF and EF grades and it is popular with type collectors due to its affordability.

This bright yellow-gold example is well detailed with some mint luster seen on both sides. The fields have the usual amount of small circulation marks but none are deep or detracting.

The last PCGS EF45 example of this date to sell at auction was Heritage 7/12: 5071 which brought $5,175. there are no other records going back to August 2010.

It has become almost impossible to find nice PCGS EF40 and EF45 examples of O mint double eagles, especially at a price point of under $5,000.
