AFFORDABLE COLLECTOR GRADE 1857-O HALF EAGLE

The 1857-O is numismatically significant as the final year of issue for the No Motto half eagles from Philadelphia. Around 100 exist from an original mintage of 13,000. This date is scarce in all grades.

This light russet-gold example is the single lowest graded 1857-O currently slabbed at PCGS. It has a pleasing overall appearance with no problems noted.

No PCGS VF30 1857-O half eagle has ever sold at auction. Two PCGS VF35's have traded and these sold for $1,840 in November 2012 and $1,955 in September 2008.

This is likely the most affordable 1857-O half eagle available to collectors.
