LOW MINTAGE 1884 QUARTER EAGLE

Only 1,950 quarter eagles were made for circulation in 1884. This date is more available than one might expect but it is very scarce in properly graded MS63 and rare in grades higher than this.

This very frosty example is slightly reflective and it has an excellent naked-eye appearance with warm light yellow-gold color over moderately abraded surfaces.

Only one PCGS MS63 1884 quarter eagle has sold since 2003 and it realized $3,525 as Heritage 9/12: 4802.

An above-average example for the date and grade and a popular issue on account of its small mintage.

CAC has approved 2 in this grade with 3 finer.
