UNDERAPPRECIATED BORDERLINE GEM 1903 EAGLE

While common in grades up to and including MS63, the 1903 eagle is scarce in MS64 and rare in MS65. Despite this fact, it doesn't bring a significant premium over common dates of this type and era.

This borderline Gem shows spectacular thick, frosty luster which is naturally enhanced by splendid rich orange-gold color framed by a deeply toned obverse border. There are just a few too many bag scuffs on the obverse to grade this lovely coin a full MS65 but rest assured it is far choicer than most comparable coins in MS64 holders.

If available, a PCGS MS65 1903 eagle with CAC approval would sell for at least $7,500 if not a bit more.

CAC has approved five in MS64 (including this one in MS64+) with just a single coin finer.
