OLD HOLDER PCGS AU58 1800 EAGLE

BD-1, High R-3.

This accurately graded 1800 eagle is housed in an old green label holder and it has refreshingly choice surfaces with a good amount of natural color and remaining mint luster. As a date, the low mintage 1800 is much scarcer than the 1799, 1801 or 1803 yet it sells for just a small premium.

This light green-gold example is well-detailed for the issue with all details bold with the exception of the first two stars on the right obverse. What little wear there is can mainly be seen in the obverse fields where the luster isslightly brken in the fields. A few small marks in the right obverse are not detracting.

The only PCGS AU58 1800 eagle to sell at auction since October 2009 was an extremely lo-end coin whichsold for a not-unexpectedly low $22,325.

I haven't offered a nice 1800 eagle for sale for some time and this coin should prove interesting to the type collector seeking a Heraldic Eagle ten dollar gold piece.
