This numismatically significant issue is the final Carson City half eagle as the mint closed this year. The 1893-CC is fairly scarce in MS62 and seldom found in grades higher than this.

This piece is well struck and very frosty with attractive natural orange-gold and russet colors. For the grade, it is minimally marked with just a few small ticks seen in the obverse fields. The strike is crisp and bold while the overall eye appeal is excellent.

The last auction record for an NGC MS62 1893-CC half eagle is $4,113 for a non-CAC coin sold as Heritage 2/13: 4887. In their 8/11 auction, Heritage sold an NGC MS62 with CAC approval for $3,594.

Trends for this date jumps to $8,500 in MS63.

CAC has approved four in this grade with not a single example finer.
