NICE GEM 1904 TWENTY LIBERTY

Ten of thousands of Uncirculated 1904 Double Eagles exist and this date is exceedingly common in grades through MS64. Real Gems are not readily located and any pieces grading MS66 or finer are scarce and spendy. From a value standpoint, a CAC approved MS65+ is going to be the right choice for many type collectors.

This Gem example is very clean and it shows pleasing natural rose and light green-gold hues. A few light marks on the obverse are really all which separates this attractive coin from a full MS66 grade and a $6,000-7,000+ price tag.

Of the 4,918 graded MS65 by PCGS just 163 are "plus" coins. CAC has approved 406 of this date in MS65 with an unknown number of these grading MS65+. Only 32 have been approved in grades higher than MS65/65+.

For less than $5,000 this is the best available quality for the type.
