PCGS AU58 1875-CC DOUBLE EAGLE

The 1875-CC is the most available Type Two double eagle from Carson City which makes it a very popular issue with type collectors. AU58 seems like the best value grade to me as MS61 examples are expensive and most in these holders aren't significantly finer than nice 58's.

To prove this point, observe this coin. It is essentially free of wear but there is some stacking friction seen on the obverse, likely from contact with other coins. The color is a pleasing natural medium orange-gold and the only abrasion worthy of mention can be seen below the eye of Liberty.

PCGS AU58 examples of this date have sold from $8,225 to $11,163 in the last year.

If you need a nice Type Two CC double eagle for your set, give this piece some serious consideration.
