CHOICE SLIDER 1836 HALF EAGLE WITH CAC APPROVAL

McCloskey 3-C, R-2.

While it typically brings just a small premium, the 1836 is much harder to locate in properly graded AU58 than the 1834 Plain 4. I doubt if as many as 10% of those graded AU58 by the services will qualify as CAC approved if and when they are submitted.

This frosty light orange-gold piece shows no real wear and to the naked eye it looks like an MS62. It is well struck and frosty but it does show a few scattered handling marks on the obverse.

No CAC approved AU58 1836 half eagles have sold at auction in recent years.

A nice piece for the date or type collector.

CAC has approved 18 in this grade with 9 finer.
