The 1852 is one of the most available Type One gold dollars in Gem. But “available” is a relative term and if you had to locate three no-questions Gems and had a year to do this, I’m not certain that you could fill your order.

This is a superb no-questions Gem with a full strike, very clean surfaces and thick, frosty luster that shows nice natural medium to deep orange-gold coloration. There is a small mint-made depression in front of Liberty’s mouth that is not easily seen and two reverse marks; one below A in DOLLAR and the other below the R in this word.

The last auction record for a PCGS MS65 1852 gold dollar was Heritage 12/11: 4361, that sold for $4,600.

This is the only MS65+ example to have been graded by PCGS as of 11/11.

CAC has approved 17 examples in MS65 with five finer. This is the only MS65+ to have been approved.
